Another exciting stage of the build, the flooring has now been laid to the toilet, changing rooms and kitchen area. This makes these areas ready for the washroom cubicles and panelling to be installed in the next few weeks, which will be followed by the sanitary ware.
Now that the Poppy Centre Trust has a steady stream of income from it’s charity shop, work continues at the centre. During September, October and November the painters and decorators have been busy, all the ground floor ceilings and some wall areas have been plaster boarded and plastered. Door frames have been installed, the ventilation work has been almost completed, first fix of all electrical and plumbing has been completed.
The Poppy Centre Trust would like to thank the North Norfolk Big Society for a grant of £15,000 towards the toilet and changing room facilities at the Poppy Centre. Work is ready to start, and with this funding will commence immediately. This will be a huge step forward for the project in our goal to getting the project completed. Thank you.
The Poppy Centre Charity Shop celebrated its first birthday today. It has been a fantastic year, and has far exceeded our expectations for raising money for the building project. So far we have raised in excess of £55,000 towards our target. The shop is staffed entirely by volunteers and today I heard one say “it’s like Christmas working here, you get to open bags and boxes every day and you never know what you are going to find” another commented when thanked for all her hard work ” it’s not work it’s fun – I love it, I can’t stay away” A big, big thank you to all our staff and customers.
On Tuesday 2 July the Poppy Centre Charity Shop will be 1 year old. To date the profit from the shop towards the building project is £55,000. We will be celebrating by having a 25% off everything sale for the day. Please pop in and see us to celebrate this great achievement. The shop is staffed entirely by volunteers, so a big big thank you to them and to all the customers who support us by donating goods and buying from us. It has made a huge difference to our project. Thank you!!
On Sunday 16th June, the Poppy Centre Trust were invited as the charity to benefit from this Fleamarket by DK Fairs. Each year they run three of these events in our area and look to support a local charity. Admission was by donation, we had a stall, staffed by some of our shop volunteers, and DK Fairs also made a donation to the charity. We are pleased to report that we raised £250.83. A big big thank you to everyone. The next Fleamarket is on Sunday 21st July and Sunday 18th August, at the Lighthouse Inn, Walcott – we hope to see you there.
We receive fantastic news, Sheringham Shoal Community Fund have offered us a conditional grant of £20,000 towards the Ground source heating, subject to getting the rest of the £60,000 within 6 months. Thank you.
